Must have Admin rights
Must have write permission to the system common files folder (see detail

 Hi Douglas,

We can confirm registering this license key requires Administrator
privileges. At that, even if you have Administrator rights on that machine,
make sure that you have writing access to this system folder:
%CommonProgramFiles%

or, for Windows 64-bit system this will be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\

Besides, if using the Windows UAC feature, you can also try to run the
ArcMap application as Administrator (right click on the icon and select to
Run as administrator) and then register the provided key. In any case,
please let us know the result. Registration shouldn't be an issue and this
shouldn't cause downgrading to an older version.

Best regards,

Hi Angela,

We received the new XTools regcode in the Park Service via David Duran and
have not heard of any issues until today. One of our park units is
reporting trouble registering the Pro 9.1 version. I consulted David but he
is unsure of what the problem might be. I'm writing you in the hopes that
you can suggest a solution.

Below is the regcode we're using. And farther below is the email that
alerted us to this issue. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Has anybody successfully registered XTools Pro 9.1? I'm using the original
license code from Data East and I get the XTools error message (not a local
or network error message) "You don't have necessary permissions to
register". I've tried as local admin, and our IT guy has tried as
system/NPS admin getting the same message. I'm about ready downgrade back
to 7.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
